We share Dr Montessori's high hopes for how each of the young children experience their day in our creative, sensorial environments and as parents and practitioners, we find three aspects help the children have their 'best day' every day here at Jellybeans Childcare.
We have two classrooms, one indoor and one outdoor. The outdoor classroom is heated and ensures all-year round outside learning in our large private garden. Our garden is where the children climb, do large painting projects and water play. When it's hot in the garden we get in our large (3x4m) swimming pool.
Children don’t like staying indoors all day, every day, and so we love to explore our local area. Every week we go to the Isle of Dogs Children’s Centre, St Luke's Millwall Church playgroup and Tiller Leisure soft play, Millwall Park, Riverside park or Mudchute Farm.
To aid outdoor learning, the children regularly go and dig, water and tend plants in our family allotment at Mudchute Allotment. The plants then go into our seasonal menu.
At Jellybeans we pride ourselves on our gentle, non-shaming, approach to children's behaviour management, our slingwearing, and enabling of child choice. We are the only local childcare setting to openly and actively practice gentle or attached parenting.
Jellybeans welcomes parents who are extended breastfeeding, cloth nappying and Attachment Parenting
